Immaculata, Pa. (Sept. 30, 2015) - Alvernia University (4-2-4) scored twice in the second half to take a 2-1 victory over Immaculata University (3-6-0) Wednesday afternoon at Immaculata.
The Crusaders, who were in a scoreless deadlock with the Mighty Macs through the first half, posted their first goal of the day early in the second half. In the 46th minute, Kevin McFarland gave Alvernia the 1-0 lead with a header off the free kick by
Austin Young.
Immaculata responded with the equalizer in the 54th minute off its first shot of the half.
Alvernia's offense stayed strong, capitalizing in the 85th minute as
Andrew Baylor drove home the game winner with his first goal of the year.
The Crusader held the offensive advantage on the day, outshooting the Mighty Macs 16-11, and holding the 7-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Zach Rider earned the win in goal for Alvernia, picking up six saves on the day.
Alvernia returns home on Saturday, hosting Goucher College at 3:30.
