Radnor, Pa. (Oct. 12, 2016) - Alvernia University (3-0) collected its second consecutive shutout with a 9-0 victory over Cabrini College (6-7) Wednesday afternoon in non-conference women's tennis action at Cabrini.
The Crusaders dominated in doubles action, allowing just three points across all three doubles matchups.
Cassandra Noray and
Emily Thek took the first flight, 8-2, as
Cassandra Bean and
Amanda Phillips took the next flight, 8-1.
Xena Sperrazza and
Lydines Haddock rounded out the doubles flights, not allowing a single point to Cabrini's Sydney Lynch and Lucy Travers.
Alvernia continued to shine in singles action, winning every flight in straight sets.
Phillips and Thek posted flawless performances, taking 6-0 sets in No.2 and No.3 singles, respectively.
Noray joined Phillips and Thek in advancing to 3-0 in singles play for the year, taking her top flight, 6-3, 6-0.
Bean and Sperrazza both move to 2-0, each appearing in a new flight, as Bean advanced two spots to No.4 singles and Sperrazza crept up a spot to No. 5.
Haddock wrapped up the contest with a 9-8 single set victory, taking the tiebreaker 7-5.
