Reading, Pa. (Oct. 2, 2016) - Alvernia University (1-0) captured a 7-2 victory over Susquehanna University (3-2) in its fall season opener Sunday afternoon in non-conference women's Tennis action.
The Crusaders opened the day with a pair of wins in doubles action.
Amanda Phillips and
Emily Thek claimed an 8-2 win in the No.2 matchup, while
Alyssa Boyd and
Xena Sperrazza took the No.3 match 8-4.
Phillips, Boyd, and Thek continued their success in singles play, taking matchups 2-4, respectively, in straight sets.
Cassandra Noray posted a strong performance in the top singles match, defeating Susquehann's Megan Rudloff 6-1, 6-0.
Cassandra Bean rounded out the day for Alvernia with straight set wins of her own, winning 6-2, 6-1 at No.6.
Alvernia takes to the court again on Tuesday, traveling to Immaculata University for a 3:30 start.
