Reading, Pa. (Mar. 23, 2016) - Eastern University captured two of three doubles matches to take a 5-4 win over Alvernia University Wednesday afternoon in non-conference women's tennis action at Alvernia.
Cassandra Noray and
Amanda Phillips opened the doubles matchups by capturing the No. 1 flight with a score of 8-6.
Eastern evened the playing field with an 8-1 victory at No. 2 doubles, and sealed the win with an 8-6 final in the No. 3 flight.
Eastern and Alvernia were evenly matched through singles play, spliting the matches 3-3.
Phillips picked up her second win of the day in No.2 singles in straight sets.
Emily Thek outlasted Eastern's Laura Thomas, winning her first and third sets 6-3 to claim No. 4 singles.
Cassandra Bean wrapped up the singles wins for the Crusaders, taking No.6 singles in 6-4 straight sets.
Alvernia will have a week off before it hits the road to take the court again on April 2nd in MAC Commonwealth action at Arcadia.
