Frederick, Md. (Apr. 9, 2016) - Alvernia University (6-6, 2-0) earned wins at the top four singles flights in a 6-3 win over Hood College (5-6, 1-1) Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth Women's Tennis action at Hood.
After taking a 2-1 lead with wins at No. 1 and 2 doubles, Alvernia got straigh-set wins from
Cassandra Noray,
Amanda Phillips,
Lillian Hussar, and
Emily Thek at the first four singles flights. Thek needed the tiebreaker to win the first set of her match at No. 4 then cruised 6-0 in the second set.
Alvernia returns home to face crosstown rival Albright College on Wednesday.
