MAC Championship Preview: Women's Tennis

Reading, Pa. (May 2, 2017) -  Alvernia University's Women's Tennis team has earned the No. 3 seed in the MAC Commonwealth Tennis Team Championships, set to begin on Wednesday, May 3.

Alvernia finished the 2016-2017 season with an overall record of 9-4, posting a 5-2 conference showing.

The Crusaders will open the tournament facing No.2 seed Messiah at 3:30 pm at Messiah. 


Key Performers:
Cassandra Noray (Jr.) – The No.1 singles player for the Crusaders, Noray currently ranks tied for fourth in the conference in singles competition for the season, collecting 12 victories with an .800 winning percentage. In the first flight, Noray ranks third in overall wins with 10, and is tied for first in the conference in MAC wins with six.

Emily Thek (Jr.) – Playing in No. 4 singles, Thek is tied with Noray for the fourth spot in the conference singles play rankings with a 12-3 record and .800 win percentage. In her flight, Thek is third in wins and win percentage with 7 victories, including a MAC-best 5 win in conference.

Semifinal Round - Wednesday, May 3
Match 1 - No. 4 Lycoming at No. 1 Lebanon Valley, 3:30 p.m.
Match 2 - No. 3 Alvernia at No. 2 Messiah, 3:30 p.m.

Final - Saturday, May 6
Match 3 - Match 1 Winner vs. Match 2 Winner (at highest remaining seed)
