Reading, Pa. (Sept. 18, 2017) - Alvernia University (1-0) opened the season with a 6-3 win over Penn State-Berks (0-1) Monday afternoon in non-conference women's tennis action at Berks.
Cassandra Noray and
Amanda Phillips were dominant at the top of the lineup for the Golden Wolves, dropping just one game between them in singles and doubles play. Â They teamed for an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles, and with Alvernia trailing 2-1 in the match after the doubles play, they set the tone in singles play.
Noray ran off a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles and Phillips followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2.
Alivia Lopez earned a 3-set win at No. 3 singles as did
Leah Kemper at No. 4 and
Maria Figurelli at No. 5.
