Pride Out Pace Golden Wolves, 75-45

BOX SCORE Reading, Pa (Jan. 10, 2018) - Widener University (8-6, 2-4) outscored Alvernia University (3-11, 0-6) 25-7 in the first quarter to pace themselves to a 75-45 victory over the Golden Wolves in MAC Commonwealth women's basketball action on Wednesday night at Alvernia.

The Golden Wolves opened the scoring just over a minute into the game when Maya Cooper went one for two on free throw attempts.

The Pride quickly found their rhythm, and outscored the Golden Wolves 25-6 in the remaining nine minutes of the first quarter. Kiersten Ingram hit a buzzer beater layup as time expired in the first quarter to put the Golden Wolves within 18 to start the second quarter.

Alveria found its stride in the second quarter, outscoring Widener 21-20, but the 18 point deficit would be too much to overcome.

The Golden Wolves shooting went cold in the 3rd quarter as they struggled to gain ground on the Pride. Widener took advantage of Alvernia's shooting struggles and took a 26 point lead as the game entered the final ten minutes.

The Pride would go on to outscore the Golden Wolves 12-8 in the final quarter to take a 75-45 victory.

Widener was led by Devan Rimmer, who finished the night with 22 points.

Ingram finished the night with eight points for the Golden Wolves, while Torie Zerbe had six points and led the team with eight rebounds.

Alvernia continues its conference schedule on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Stevenson University.
