BOX SCORE Glenside, Pa (Jan. 3, 2018) - The Alvernia University Golden Wolves (3-9, 0-5) were held to single digits in each quarter on their way to a 63-19 loss to Arcadia University (6-6, 1-3) in MAC Commonwealth women's basketball action at Arcadia.

Alvernia bookended the night with seven point first and fourth quarters, but were held to two and three points in the second and third quarter, respectively.

Arcadia took advantage of the Golden Wolves shooting struggles, and pulled away early. The Knights got off to a quick start in the first quarter with Courtney Hoffman dropping a three to lead off the scoring. Arcadia would go on to outscore the Golden Wolves 15-5 in the first nine minutes. Alvernia's Julia Ewen hit two free throws with 30 seconds left in the first quarter to bring the Golden Wolves within eight entering the second quarter.

Arcadia continued its strong offensive showing in the second quarter, outscoring the Golden Wolves 18-3, including an 18-1 run that spanned over nine minutes. Maya Cooper made a layup to end Alvernia's offensive skid with 20 seconds remaining in the half.

The Knight's defense held the Golden Wolves to just 14% from the floor in the first half.

Alvernia continued to struggle to find its rhythm in the second half, allowing the Knights to go on a 10-2 run to open the third quarter.

Arcadia went on to score a game high 20 points in the fourth quarter to close out the night.

Ewen led the Golden Wolves with four points and a career high 10 rebounds.

The Golden Wolves look to rebound on Friday evening when they face Franklin and Marshall on the road.
