Wilkes-Barre, Pa. (Oct. 20, 2018) - Alvernia University got to the final at No. 1 doubles and advanced to the semifinal of No. 5 and 6 singles at the MAC Women's Tennis Individual Championships Saturday.

Amanda Phillips and Ariana Chuprinsky advanced to the final at No. 1 doubles before losing to the No. 1 seeded team from Wilkes.  They needed an 8-7 (5) win to advance through the quarterfinals then moved on to the final with an 8-6 win over the team from Messiah.

Laura Covely and Cassandra Bean advanced to the semifinals at No. 3 doubles before losing to the second-seeded team from Wilkes.

Bean and Rachel Rineer are alive in singles play heading into the semifinals on Sunday.  Bean is seeded fourth in the No. 5 singles flight and will face the top-seeded player from Wilkes in the semifinals.  Rineer is seeded second at No. 6 singles and will face an unseeded player from Lebanon Valley.
