Alfred, NY (Dec. 15, 2019) - After trailing 11-0 through the first three matches of the day, Alvernia University (3-3) put together seven straight wins to down Alfred State 37-11 in a dual match at Alfred State on Sunday.
Alvernia's first win of the day came from a 17-0 technical fall by
Robert Lawlor in the 149 bout to cut Alfred State's lead down to 11-5.
Gavin Hollingsworth then pinned Andrew Plunkett in 1:42 in the 157 bout to tie the match up at 11-11.
Tanner Vogel added another five points for the Golden Wolves with a 16-0 technical fall in the 165 bout to put Alvernia up 16-11.
The Golden Wolves kept rolling with a pin by
Chase Smith at 174 and a 16-0 technical fall by
Ali Capobianco over Alijah Carter in the 184 bout.
Alvernia got its third pin of the day from
Tonee Ellis in the 197 bout, and closed things out with
Palmer Rodenhaber earning a 10-2 decision in the heavyweight bout to solidify the 37-11 win for the Golden Wolves.
The Golden Wolves have off for the next couple of weeks for Winter Break, but will return to the mat on January 4th at the Waynesburg Invitational.
