BOX SCORE 2 Chester, Pa. (Apr. 6, 2019) - Alvernia University (12-17, 6-8) finished its 2019 season with a sweep at the Widener University tri-match on Saturday in MAC volleyball action.
Alvernia took a 3-1 win over Widener University (0-14, 3-17) in its first match of the day and took the 3-0 win over Wilkes University (4-10, 10-16) in its second match.
In their first match of the day, the Golden Wolves dropped their first set by a 25-23 decision, but came back and swept the final three sets for the 3-1 win.
Alvernia came back from the first set loss and dominated the second set, winning 25-10. The Golden Wolves kept up their momentum and took set three 25-16 and set four 25-11.
Anthony Dadson led Alvernia in match one with 14 kills on 20 attacks, and four blocks.
Alvernia then swept its final match of the season in straight sets.
The Golden Wolves took set one 25-15 after jumping out to an early 11-4 lead. They then took the second and third sets by 25-17 decisions.
Josh Stewart led Alvernia in its second match with 11 kills on 16 attacks and seven digs.
Alvernia finishes the 2019 season in fifth place in the MAC, missing the four team postseason.
