Women’s Cross Country Finishes In7th, Has Two Runners Accomplish All-MAC Honors

Center Valley, Pa. (Oct. 30, 2021)- Alvernia's Isabel Fries and Katelyn Schoener both earned All-MAC honors to pace Alvernia to a seventh-place finish on Saturday at the 2021 MAC Championship, hosted at DeSales.
 
This seventh-place finish for the Golden Wolves ties their best MAC finish in program history.
 
Alvernia had two runners finish with All-MAC Honors as Fries earned All-MAC Second Team, while Schoener earned All-MAC Third Team.
 
Finishing in 17th was Fries with a time of 24:42.6, which was a personal best. Schoener was not far behind, finishing in 30th with a time of 25:06.1, which was also a personal best.
 
Not far behind her was Kira Angstadt finishing with a time of 25:15.9, which was good enough to earn her 33rd. This time was a personal best for Angstadt.
 
Paige McKenna finished with a time of 26:22.7, which earned her 64th. Just 1.8 seconds behind her was Sophomore Kennedy Waterson, who finished 65th with a time of 26:24.5.
 
Next up was Kaitlyn Snyder, who recorded a time of 27:24.0, which earned her 90th.
 
Finishing 120th was Sydni McKenna with a time of 28:35.8. Mackenzie St. Pierre finished with a time of 29:21.1, which earned her 129th.
 
Marlena Okurowski finished right behind her in 132nd with a time of 29:27.8.
 
Rounding out the championships for the Golden Wolves was Melena Musgrove, who finished 154th while recording a time of 37:51.3.
 
Misericordia claimed the title with 68 points. Widener finished in second place with 110 points, and Lebanon Valley took third with 118 points. York finished in fourth-place with 126 points, and Messiah rounded out the top-five with 154 points. Full team standings here.
 
Lebanon Valley's Lauren Wick won the 6K race in a time of 23:08.3. Arcadia's Tate Dawson took second place with a time of 23:26.3. Misericordia's Olivia Visaggio took third with a time of 23:30.6. Widener's Gabriella Nye finished fourth with a time of 23:52.9, and Misericordia's Alexa Thompson took fifth with a time of 23:59.0.
 
 
Alvernia's next competition is the NCAA Regional Championship at Dickinson College on November 13th.
