Camden, NJ (Nov. 15, 2021) - Alvernia University (2-1) put up 43 points in the second half to dominate the Rutgers Camden Scarlet Raptors (0-2) in a 73-39 decision on Monday night in non-conference women's basketball action at Rutgers Camden.

Alvernia led 30-19 at the half, but both sides of the ball came out firing in the second half for Alvernia. The Golden Wolves scored 43 points while only allowing 20 points from the Raptors as Alvernia came away with the 73-39 win.

A layup on the opening possession of the game by Alvernia's Taliyah Malone put Alvernia up 2-0 in the opening 26 seconds. The Raptors tied it up on their first possession of the game, and took a 4-2 lead after two and a half minutes of action.

A layup by Cathryn Kramer with 6:37 left in the first tied the game back up at 4-4, and a jumper by Jordan Karmonick 40 seconds later gave Alvernia the lead for good, 8-4.

After a layup by the Raptors with 5:07 left in the first quarter, Alvernia held Rutgers Camden scoreless the rest of the quarter while building its lead up to 14-6 going into the second quarter.

A jumper by the Raptors with 7:15 left in the second half brought Rutgers-Camden back within three, 17-14.

Over the next six minutes, Alvernia went on a 13-2 run that was capped off by a 3-pointer from Tamia Wessels with 1:37 remaining in the half to drive Alvernia's lead up to 30-16.

The Raptors scored the final points of the first half with three made free throws to make it a 30-19 game going into the break.

A layup by Kayla Williams marked the opening points of the second half to put Alvernia ahead 32-19, but Alvernia's scoring went cold for the next three and a half minutes as Rutgers-Camden brought it back within nine, 32-23.

Kelly Fetter knocked down a layup with 5:14 left in the third quarter to end Alvernia's scoreless drought and put the Golden Wolves back in front by double-digits, 34-23.

After a layup and a made and-one free throw, the Raptors were back within single digits, 34-26, with 4:35 left in the third quarter. Then, Kayla Williams went on a solo 9-0 run over the next 80 seconds to put Alvernia up 17, 43-26, with 3:27 left in the third.

A layup by Tyra Robinson and a 3-pointer by Wessels added to Wiliiams' run to put Alvernia up by 22, 48-26, with just over a minute remaining in the third frame.

The Raptors scored the final seven points of the quarter to make it a 48-33 game going into the final quarter.

Alvernia did not let its foot off the gas in the fourth quarter as the Golden Wolves built their lead up to 32, 69-37, on a layup by Williams late in the fourth quarter.

The Golden Wolves subbed in the bench and continued to work the scoreboard up to a 34 point lead off of free throws by Fiona Teaney. Alvernia held on to the 34 point lead as it came away with the 73-39 win.

Williams led Alvernia with 19 points and nine rebounds and Kramer finished with a 12 point/13 rebound double-double. Alvernia finished the night with ten players recording points.
