Alvernia Forces Game Three Over Lebanon Valley

Annville, Pa. (May 8, 2021) - #3 Alvernia University won a must-win game two on Saturday at #2 Lebanon Valley in the MAC Commonwealth Semifinals to force a decisive game three at Alvernia on Sunday. 

Lebanon Valley used a 3-run seventh inning to secure a 5-2 win in game one. Alvernia then took the must-win game two 7-2.

In game two of the doubleheader, Alvernia took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second after Joe Ginder doubled to right center to drive in Jason Lind and Jason Kelly

The Golden Wolves extended their lead to 5-0 in the top of the eighth. Mike Ramundo scored the first run of the inning after an error by the Dutchmen. Billy Dougar then drove in the final two runs of the inning on a triple to score Ginder and Billy Coleman

The Dutchmen got one back in the bottom of the eighth, but Alvernia tacked on two more runs in the top of the ninth with Ramundo doubling to center to score Lucas Flloyd and Evan Williams and put Alvernia up 7-1.

Lebanon Valley scored one more run in the bottom of the ninth, but Alvernia would come away with the 7-2 win to force a decisive game three tomorrow. 

Michael Simmerman picked up the win with a seven-inning, three strikeout performance.
