Reading, Pa. (Sept. 30, 2021) - Alvernia University Women's Tennis (2-1) closed out its fall season with a 9-0 win over Cabrini University (0-1) on Thursday evening at Alvernia's Angelica Park. 

Alvernia got off to a fast start in doubles action. Playing at #1 doubles, the duo of Leah Bouchard and Jillian Laughman closed out their set 8-0 in just 27 minutes to give Alvernia the early 1-0 advantage.

Laura Covely and Lily Summerson took care of business at #2 doubles with an 8-1 win to put Alvernia up 2-0. The duo of Rachel Rineer and Jackelyn Checo-Mercado closed out doubles with an 8-0 win in the #3 slot to give Alvernia the 3-0 advantage heading into singles play.

The Golden Wolves kept their foot on the gas in singles play with Bouchard and Laughman each taking #1 and #2 singles 6-0, 6-0, respectively. 

Covely, who graduates in December, wrapped up collegiate career with a 6-0, 6-1 win at #3 singles and Summerson took care of #4 singles 6-2, 6-0.

Rineer took #5 singles 6-1, 6-1 and Checo closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win at #6 singles.

The 9-0 win over the Cavaliers marks the end of Alvernia's fall season. The Golden Wolves will return in the spring with matches beginning in March.
