Alvernia Athletics Announces Updated Spectator Policy - Jan. 27, 2022

Reading, Pa. (Jan. 27, 2022) - Alvernia University is pleased to welcome spectators back to home events, effective immediately.

The health and safety of our student-athletes and campus community will continue to remain a top priority. In order to ensure the continued safety of our campus community, capacity will be limited to 50%. These capacity restrictions include all participating student-athletes, coaches, officials, and support staff, so please visit the schedule page of the respective sport for any additional restrictions on spectators.

Physical Education Center (Men's and Women's Basketball, Volleyball, Wrestling): 900

The Body Zone (Men's and Women's Ice Hockey): 200

Spectators will not be permitted at Alvernia Indoor Track and Field Events at the Tom and Helen Flynn Complex due to the large number of participating student-athletes, the lack of space designated for spectators, and the proximity of spectators to student-athletes, coaches, officials. 

There are currently no spectator restrictions for any of Alvernia's outdoor facilities.

All spectators will be required to wear a mask at indoor events at all times. Failure to comply with masking and/or any other policies will result in spectators being asked to leave and/or the suspension of the competition. Updated CDC recommendations for masking can be found here.
