Golden Wolves Defeat Stockton, 2-1

Stockton, NJ (Oct. 29, 2022) - Kathryn Palmer scored the go-ahead goal in the 49th minute for Alvernia University to seal a 2-1 win over Stockton University on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference field hockey matchup against Stevenson.

After a scoreless first half, Stockton broke through in the 35th minute on a goal by Alexandria Palumbo.

The Golden Wolves equalized it in the 39th minute with Brooke Spezialetti scoring on a penalty stroke goal to make it a 1-1 game.

Alvernia had two shots on goal late in the third quarter, but were unable to put one in net.

After Alvernia was awarded a penalty corner early in the final frame, Abbie Buck inserted the corner to Spezialetti. Spezialetti then found Palmer who hit a one-timer into the left side of the net to give Alvernia the 2-1 lead.

The Osprey fired one more shot on net the rest of the game, and Lexi Boettcher was able to make the stop to secure the 2-1 come-from-behind win.

Boettcher finished the night with five saves, and Spezialetti led the offensive efforts with a goal and an assist.

The win over Stockton marked the finale of the regular season. The Golden Wolves head to the MAC Commonwealth postseason as the #3 seed and will face #2 York College on Tuesday.
