Neumann leveled the score with just under five minutes left in the first period when Tyler Kulas found Devin Joyce who found the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1.

The Golden Wolves equalized just under two minutes later when Sawyer Senio passed the puck to Brendan McBride who found the stick of Logan vande Meerakker who fired a shot that beat the Neumann goalie to give Alvernia a 2-1 late in the first period.
