Reading, Pa. (March 18, 2022) - Alvernia University (5-2) picked up wins in all six singles matches en route to an 8-1 win over Penn State Berks (1-1) on Friday evening in non-conference women's tennis action at Berks.

Leading by just one, 2-1, after doubles play, Alvernia took control with six wins at singles to secure its fifth win of the season.

The duos of Lily Summerson and Leah Bouchard and Jillian Laughman and Jackelyn Mercado picked up 8-0 wins at #1 and #2 doubles, respectively. Alvernia dropped #3 doubles on a tiebreaker set to take a 2-1 lead into singles.

Bouchard, Summerson, and Mercado each picked up straight set wins in their respective matches. Laughman came way with a 6-1,6-1 win at #2 singles, and Sabrina Heck picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at #6 singles.

Berks' best opportunity for a point came at #4 singles, but Rachel Rineer was able to edge out a 7-6, 6-1 win to seal Alvernia's 8-1 win. 

The Golden Wolves return to action on Tuesday, March 29 with a home contest against Arcadia.
