Frederick, Md. (April 2, 2022) - Alvernia University (6-2, 1-0) opened up its MAC Commonwealth schedule with a 6-3 win over Hood College (3-4, 0-1) on Saturday afternoon at Hood. 

Alvernia took a 2-1 lead after doubles play with the duos of Leah Bouchard and Lily Summerson, and Jillian Laughman and Jackelyn Checo Mercado each picking up 8-2 wins at #1 and #2 doubles.

Bouchard and Laughman then picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins in the first two singles slots. Summerson and Checo Mercado also secured undefeated days with wins at #3 and #4 singles. Each took their matches by 6-1, 6-0 decisions. 

Hood picked up wins at #5 and #6 singles for the 6-3 final.

The Golden Wolves return to action on Monday, hosting Arcadia.
