Camden, NJ (March 22, 2022) - Rutgers-Camden (9-7) scored six runs over three innings en route to a 6-2 win over Alvernia University (6-11-1) on Tuesday evening in non-conference action at Rutgers-Camden.

After an early pitching duel between Alvernia's David Linsalata and Camden's Dylan Wichrowski, Alvernia got things started with Lucas Floyd driving in Shane Doyle - who led off the inning with a walk - with a double to right field for the 1-0 lead.

The Golden Wolves allowed one hit in the third and retired the side in the fourth before Camden's offense came alive in the fifth. The Scarlet Raptors recorded three runs on two hits to jump out to a 3-1 advantage.

Rutgers tacked on two more in the bottom of the sixth with a bases loaded walk and an RBI on a fielder's choice to extend its lead to 5-1.

Alvernia got one back in the top of the seventh with Justin Ayala knocking a triple to the left gap to drive in Billy Dougar and cut Camden's lead to three, 5-2. 

While Rutgers added one in the bottom of the seventh, the Golden Wolves were held hitless the rest of the way by Raptor reliever Ethan Pritchett for the 6-2 final.

Linsalata finished his start with a strike out and five hits in five innings of work.

Nick Nutile led Alvernia with two hits on four at-bats, and 

Alvernia is back in action tomorrow, hosting Moravian at 4:00 PM.
