Orlando, Fla. (March 8, 2022) - Alvernia University (4-2) picked up a 7-2 win over Cornell College on Wednesday morning during Alvernia's spring break trip to Orlando, Florida and the USTA campus.

Alvernia started out its morning going 2-1 in doubles play. Alvernia picked up an 8-3 win at #1 doubles behind Leah Bouchard and Lily Summerson. Alvernia then gained its second win at #2 doubles with an 8-2 win behind Jillian Laughman and Jackelyn Checo Mercardo. Alvernia dropped #3 doubles to go into singles play with a 2-1 advantage.

Alvernia added five more points in singles play, with Bouchard getting things started with a 6-0, 6-0 straight set win. Laughman followed suite with a 6-2, 6-2 win at #2 singles, and Lily Summerson edged out a 7-5, 6-3 win at #4 singles. Mercado capped things off with a 6-0, 6-2 win at #5 singles, and Cornell forfeited #6 singles for Alvernia's final point.

The Golden Wolves close out their spring break rotation tomorrow against Ohio Wesleyan.
