Golden Wolves and Dutchmen Play to 0-0 Draw

Reading, Pa. (Oct. 10, 2023) - Alvernia University (6-5-1) and #21 Lebanon Valley College (9-1-2) played to a 0-0 draw on Tuesday night in non-conference men's soccer action at Alvernia.

Alvernia held the majority of possession early in the contest, with Ryan Cogill firing off three shots and Gabe Wunderlich adding one shot in the opening 20 minutes. The Dutchmen had their only look on goal in the first half in the 23rd minute, but Alvernia goalie Evan Solley was able to make the stop.

Alvernia's best opportunity came in the 43rd minute as a shot from Austin Chambers rolled just shy of the corner and off the post to keep the Golden Wolves off the board.

Alvernia had another look on net in the 56th minute as Connor Kraycik sent in a shot, but Lebanon Valley again made the stop.

The Dutchmen were primed to get on the board in the 57th minute after a penalty kick was awarded to LVC. Nathan Prex stepped up to the line and fired a shot to his left, but Solley was able to make the fantastic diving save. Prex immediately collected his rebound and fired two more shots at Solley, but he stood strong and kept the Dutchmen off the board.

Alvernia continued to pepper shots at the Dutchmen, and sent three more on net between the 60th and 62nd minute - both off the foot of Gabe Wunderlich - but Alvernia was still unable to convert. The Dutchmen had three more looks on net of their own, but Solley held them off the board to preserve the shutout and lead Alvernia to the draw with the Dutchmen.

Solley finished with eight saves in goal for Alvernia as he picked up his third shutout of the year. Cogil and Wunderlich each finished with four shots, and Wunderlich had a team-high two on goal.

Alvernia is back in action on Friday hosting York as the leadoff game on a busy Homecoming Weekend at Alvernia.
