Reading, Pa (October 2, 2023) - Alvernia University (4-5) fell to #25 Franklin and Marshall College (8-1-2) 4-0, in a non-conference men's soccer game Monday evening at Alvernia. 

The Diplomats got on the board early in the first half when Owen Sobel found the back of the net just over ten minutes into the half to give F&M a 1-0 lead. 

F&M extended its lead to two with just under ten minutes to go in the half when Matias Arbelaez connected with Koa Kaliebe to put the Diplomats up 2-0 heading into the half. 

Alvernia's Gabe Wunderlich fired a shot on goal shortly after the F&M goal, but Diplomats' keeper Nolan Booth made the save to preserve the 2-0 lead. 

Franklin and Marshall made it 3-0 in the 50th minute of the game when Kaliebe tallied his second goal of the evening to extend the Diplomats lead to three. 

The Golden Wolves responded with some offense after the third Diplomats goal with Justin Fetrow and Ryan Cogill sending shots on target, but Booth saved both shots to preserve the shutout. 

F&M tallied one more insurance goal in the 78th minute of the contest after Jack Nury headed the ball to Miguel Rosa who poked the ball past Alvernia's Evan Solley to make it 4-0 and secure the victory. 

Solley tallied seven saves in net for the Golden Wolves. 

Cogill and Wunderlich led Alvernia with two shots each and both had one go on goal. Fetrow also tallied a shot on goal and Connor Kraycik added a shot. 

The Golden Wolves are back in action on Wednesday when they host Arcadia at 7:00 PM.
