Reading, Pa. (Oct. 4, 2023) - Alvernia University (5-5) scored three unanswered goals en route to a 4-1 win over Arcadia University (5-7) in non-conference men's soccer action on Wednesday night at Alvernia.

With the win, Alvernia, who re-entered the regional rankings in the 8-spot earlier this week, moved back to .500 overall on the season.

The Golden Wolves pressured Arcadia from the jump and broke through in the 10th minute as Ryan Cogill found Connor Kraycik to put Alvernia on the board, 1-0.

The Knights evened it up in the 28th minute to make it a 1-1 game, but the tie did not last long. In the 32nd minute, Gabe Wunderlich fired a shot into the right side of the net to give Alvernia a 2-1 lead. The Golden Wolves took that one goal lead into the half. 

Alvernia tacked onto its lead in the 58th minute as Matthew Kerr crashed the net and scored off the left post on a free kick by Wunderlich to make it a 3-1 game. 

Ten minutes later, Alvernia added a final insurance goal as Cristian Topovich scored on a corner kick off the foot of Zeke Zambrano to give Alvernia the 4-1 advantage. Alvernia did not allow another shot on goal as the Golden Wolves came away with the 4-1 win.

Wunderlich led Alvernia with a goal and an assist. Evan Solley picked up the win in net with two saves.

Alvernia is back in action on Saturday at Eastern.
