Dallas, Pa (October 4, 2023) - Alvernia University (3-3) took down Misericordia University (0-4) 7-2, in a non-conference men's tennis matchup Wednesday afternoon at Misericordia. 

The Golden Wolves took two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead after doubles play. The #1 doubles duo of Lucas Berger and Jayden Lewis took down Misericordia's Dalton Alexander and Mikey Dylina by a score of 8-1. 

Alvernia's #2 doubles team of Thomas Figurelli and Luke Brisbois defeated Chase Cavanaugh and Derek Burcik 8-3 to grab two of the three points from doubles play. 

The Golden Wolves #3 doubles duo of Alec Verhagen and Zachary Hinkel lost a tight match to Karol Bialek and Christian Mazza 6-8. 

Alvernia wrapped the match up in singles play as they won five of the six singles matches. Berger took down Alexander in the #1 doubles slot 6-4, 6-0 and Lewis shutout Dylina 6-0, 6-0 in the #2 match. 

Figurelli took down Cavanaugh 6-3, 6-3 in the #3 match and in the #4 spot Alvernia's Brisbois took down Eli Harding 6-2, 6-1. Verhagan tallied the final single point for the Golden Wolves in the #5 singles match after he defeated Burcik 6-1, 6-3 to tally the seventh point for Alvernia. Alvernia's Hinkel dropped his singles match to Hunter Wesolowski 3-6, 7-6 to wrap up the singles matches. 

The Golden Wolves are back in action on Sunday when they travel to Moravian to take on the Greyhounds at 12:00 PM.
