Aston, Pa (November 4, 2023) - The Alvernia University (3-0-1, 2-0) offense exploded for seven goals in a 7-2 victory over Neumann University (0-3, 2-0) in a UCHC men's ice hockey matchup Saturday afternoon at Neumann.

The victory completed the series sweep of the Knights with the Golden Wolves outsourcing Neumann 13-5 between the two games.

The Golden Wolves got on the board just under seven minutes into the first period when Jordan Gagnon connected with Eli Rivers who found the back of the net to put the Golden Wolves up 1-0.

Alvernia made it two six minutes later when Vincent Servizzi scored a shorthanded, unassisted goal to make it 2-0 with just over seven minutes to go in the period.

The Golden Wolves continued to control the period as they made it 3-0 just 23 seconds later when Isaac Chapman lit the lamp after an assist from Logan vande Meerakker to extend the Alvernia lead to three with seven minutes to go.

The Knight sent seven shots at the Golden Wolves net but Alvernia's Jacob Stern saved five of the seven to deny Neumann as Alvernia took a 3-0 lead into the first intermission.

The Golden Wolves continued to score the puck in the second period when Max Cole tallied an unassisted goal just under six minutes into the period to make it 4-0 Golden Wolves.

Neumann got on the board with just over ten minutes to go in the period when Joe DiGiulio and Cameron Hatziioannou assisted Brady Mistler on a powerplay goal to cut the Alvernia lead to three, 4-1.

The Knights scored their second goal of the period four minutes later when Hatziioannou connected with Yancy Whitaker to make it a two goal, 4-2 game with five minutes to go in the second period.

Neumann fired six shots in the final five minutes but could not put the puck in the goal as the game headed into the final intermission with the Golden Wolves holding onto a 4-2 lead.

Alvernia came out of the intermission firing early as Peter Falivena fired the puck into the goal just 1:38 into the period after an assist from Servizzi to extend the Golden Wolves lead back to 5-2.

The Golden Wolves pushed the lead to four in the 14th minute of the final period when Sean Kenny recorded an unassisted goal to make it a 6-2 game.

Alvernia tallied one more goal for insurance when Matthew Davies lit the lamp in the final three minutes on a powerplay to make it a 7-2 game and secure the victory for the Golden Wolves.

Stern earned the win in goal for Alvernia and finished with 24 saves.

Davies, Cole, Servizzi, Kenny, Falivena, Rivers and Chapman all tallied goals for Alvernia with Servizzi recording an assist as well. Davies led with four shots on goal and three blocked shots and Hunter Alden won a team high 12 faceoffs for the Golden Wolves.

Alvernia is back in action on Friday when they travel to Stevenson to take on the Mustangs in a UCHC matchup at 7:00 PM.
