Reading, Pa (March 1, 2023) - Howley and Capasso led Alvernia University (2-1) to an 8-7 victory over Immaculata University (2-1) in a non-conference men's lacrosse matchup Wednesday afternoon at Alvernia.

Ryan Gilman opened the scoring just under five minutes into the game to put the Golden Wolves up 1-0 with ten minutes to go in the first.

Immaculata responded three minutes later when David Azzarono netted an unassisted goal to tie the game at one.

Alvernia's Kenny Howley and Christian Wright then netted two man up goals to give the Golden Wolves a 3-1 advantage with under four to play in the first. Peter Capasso provided the assists on both of the goals.

Connor Teears found the back of the net for the Mighty Macs late in the first quarter to bring Immaculata within one, 3-2 heading into the second quarter.

The Golden Wolves then netted the only two goals of the second quarter with Howley netting his second of the game and Colin McFadyen netted an unassisted goal to put Alvernia up 5-2 heading into the half.

Alvernia struck first in the second half when Howley tallied his third goal of the contest thanks to an assist from Capasso, which was his fourth assist of the game to put the Golden Wolves up 6-2 with 13 minutes left in the third.

The Mighty Macs finished off the third quarter with two goals in the final nine minutes with Bailey Manion and Teears both finding the back of the net to bring Immaculata within two, 6-4 with 15 minutes left in the contest.

Immaculata picked up right where they left off in the fourth quarter, scoring two goals in the first four minutes to tie the game at six heading into the final ten minutes. This capped off a 4-0 scoring run for the Mighty Macs.

The Golden Wolves responded with Gilman netting his second of the game and Howley tallied his fourth goal to put the Golden Wolves back up two with under six minutes to play. Capasso assisted both Howley and Gilman to tally his sixth assist of the game.
