BOX SCORE Bel Air, Md. (March 18, 2023) - Alvernia University (5-1) dropped its spring season opener on Friday as Harford Community College (2-2) edged Alvernia by a 5-4 decision in women's tennis action at Harford.

Alvernia took a 2-1 lead after doubles play, but the Owls took four of the six singles matches to take the 5-4 win.

The duos of Leah Bouchard and Lilly Summerson, and Jillian Laughman and Elizabeth Danovich each took their respective doubles matches by 8-6 decisions.

Summerson and Danovich each picked up singles wins for Alvernia as well. Summerson took #2 singles 6-4, 4-6, 7-10, and Danovich took #4 singles, 7-5, 7-6.

Alvernia is back in action on Saturday, March 25 at DeSales.
