York, Pa. (April 12, 2023) - #14 York College (7-5, 3 -0) defeated Alvernia University (4-8, 0-4) by a 19-1 decision on Wednesday night in MAC Commonwealth men's lacrosse action at York.

The Spartans scored 16 goals in the first half and added on a 17th in the opening minutes of the third quarter before Alvernia got on the board. Alvernia forced a Spartan turnover and took the ball downfield for a clear. Ian Graiff then found Peter Capaso, who fired on net to put Alvernia on the board and make it a 17-1 game with 8:11 to play in the third quarter.

However, the Spartans pushed it right back to a 17 goal lead after scoring off the ensuing faceoff.

Both teams went scoreless for the next 23 minutes until the Spartans scored their 19th and final goal with 24 seconds to play to come away with the 19-1 win.

Dane Sabarese matched his career-high for saves in net with 26 and surpassed 300 career saves.

Alvernia is back in action on Saturday at Hood.
