Annville, Pa. (May 15, 2023) - A total of nine Alvernia University Baseball student-athletes earned All-MAC Commonwealth honors for their performances during the 2023 season, as announced by the Middle Atlantic Conference on Monday.

Evan Wood, a first year pitcher, was named the MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year. He also earned Second Team All-MAC Commonwealth honors as a pitcher. Zach Rogacki and Thomas Faggioni were First Team All-MAC Commonwealth honorees. Along with Wood, Josh Kreider, Matt Mays, Jason Kelly, and Jason Lind were Second Team All-MAC Commonwealth honorees. Connor Friedel and Mike Ramundo earned All-MAC Commonwealth honorable mention.

Zach Rogacki was named a First Team All-MAC Commonwealth catcher. Rogacki, a sophomore, is batting .398 and has started in all 45 of Alvernia's games this season. Rogacki has 66 hits on 166 at-bats with 44 RBIs and 43 runs scored. He leads Alvernia in hits and RBIs. He also has a team-high eight home runs as well as six doubles and four triples. He has walked a team-high 23 times and struckout just eight times. Rogacki's 66 hits and 44 RBIs are both second in the MAC Commonwealth, and his .398 batting average ranks him fifth. In the field, Rogacki has 213 putouts and 28 assists for a .984 fielding percentage. He has also caught stealing 13 base runners. Rogacki was also a two-time MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week. This is Rogacki's second All-MAC Commonwealth honor. He was a second team catcher in 2022.

Thomas Faggioni was named a First Team All-MAC Commonwealth outfielder. Faggioni, a senior, has also started in all 45 games for Alvernia. He has 64 hits on 180 at-bats with 33 RBIs and 47 runs scored. He has hit a team-leading 17 doubles on the season along with four triples and four homeruns. Faggioni has also walked 18 times and was 7-for-7 on stolen base attempts. His 64 hits rank him third in the MAC Commonwealth and his 17 doubles are second best in the conference. He leads the MAC Commonwealth with 47 runs scored. In the field, Faggioni is 89-for-89 on putouts and chances. This is Faggioni's first All-MAC Commonwealth honor.

Evan Wood was named Rookie of the Year along with a Second-Team All-MAC Commonwealth pitcher. Wood is 6-2 on the mound for Alvernia with a 3.00 ERA in ten games started. He has pitched a team-leading 54 innings and has struckout a team-high 42 batters. He has allowed just one homerun on 62 hits, while giving up just 15 walks. His ERA is second best among MAC Commonwealth pitchers, and his six wins ranks him third among MAC Commonwealth pitchers. 

Josh Kreider earned All-MAC Commonwealth honors as a relief pitcher. Kreider, a sophomore, has appeared in 18 games in relief for Alvernia. He has one win while pitching in 24 innings. He has a 1.13 ERA and has struckout 19 batters while giving up just 19 hits. He has allowed just three earned runs and four extra base hits. This is Kreider's first All-MAC Commonwealth honor.

Matt Mays also earned All-MAC Commonwealth honors as a reliever. Mays, a first year, has appeared in 17 games in relief for Alvernia. He has pitched 19 innings with a 1.89 ERA. He is 3-1 on the year with four saves. Mays has struck out 18 batters and allowed 21 hits and four earned runs. He has given up just three walks and three extra base hits. 

Jason Kelly, a junior, earned Second Team All-MAC Commonwealth honors as a designated hitter. Kelly has played and started in 43 games for Alvernia and has a .265 batting average. He has 40 hits on the year with 151 at-bats. Kelly has five doubles, two triples, and two home runs with 28 RBIs and 27 runs scored. He has also walked 15 times. This is Kelly's first All-MAC Commonwealth honor.

Jason Lind, a junior, earned Second Team All-MAC Commonwealth honors as a utility player. Lind has played in 20 games, making 17 starts. He is batting .383 with 23 hits on 60 at-bats. Lind has three doubles and two home runs, along with 20 RBIs and 11 runs scored. He has walked six times and struckout just four times. Lind also has a .981 fielding percentage with 97 putouts and nine assists. This is Lind's first All-MAC Commonwealth honor. 

Connor Friedel, a sophomore, earned All-MAC Commonwealth honorable mention at first base. Friedel has played in 29 games, making 26 starts. He is batting .366 with 30 hits on 82 at-bats. He has 17 RBIs on the year with 15 runs scored. Friedel has also hit three doubles and two home runs. At first base, Friedel has a .981 fielding percentage with 146 putouts and 13 assists. This is Friedel's first All-MAC Commonwealth honor.

Mike Ramundo, a junior, earned All-MAC Commonwealth honorable mention at second base. Ramundo has started in all 45 games for Alvernia and is batting .325. He has 49 hits on 151 at-bats. Ramundo has six doubles and three triples with 33 RBIs and 27 runs scored. In the field, Ramundo has a .987 fielding percentage with 160 putouts and 71 assists. He has also been a part of 16 double plays for Alvernia. This is Ramundo's first All-MAC Commonwealth honor. 

Nico Santoro of Lebanon Valley was named Player of the Year, and Sam Downs of Stevenson was named Pitcher of the Year. Jonas Fester of Lebanon Valley was named Coach of the Year.

Alvernia will conclude its 2023 season later this week in the ECAC tournament.
