Scranton, Pa. (Sept. 23, 2023) - Marywood University (2-4-1,) scored three unanswered goals to take a 4-2 win over Alvernia University (1-6-1) on Saturday afternoon in rainy and cold non-conference women's soccer action at Marywood.

Marywood opened the scoring in the 19th minute on a goal off a corner kick to take a 1-0 lead.

Alvernia evened the game up in the 29th minute as Haley Dougherty converted a free kick from the left sideline and sent her shot over the head of the Pacer keeper to make it a 1-1 game.

Dougherty kept it rolling as the first half was coming to a close as she converted a shot from 20 yards out to give Alvernia the 2-1 lead as time expired in the first half.

The Pacers came out of the half firing and converted a goal in the 63rd minute to even the game up at 2-2. The Pacers then took the lead less than ten minutes later as they again converted a corner kick into a goal to take a 3-2 lead.

Marywood then added an insurance goal in the 85th minute as a free kick by the Pacers deflected off an Alvernia defender and into net to give Marywood the 4-2 lead. 

Alvernia had two solid looks on net in the final five minutes, but the Golden Wolves could not convert as Marywood took the 4-2 win.

Dougherty led Alvernia with two goals, and Brynn Bock finished the game with seven saves in net for Alvernia.

The Golden Wolves are back in action on Wednesday at Lebanon Valley.
