Reading, Pa (September 4, 2023) - Rochester University (2-0) used two goals in the final 25 minutes to down Alvernia University (1-1) 2-1, in a non-conference men's soccer matchup on Monday afternoon at Alvernia. 

Both teams held each other at bay in a scoreless first half with the Yellow Jackets firing five shots at the Golden Wolves net to Alvernia's four. Alvernia keeper Evan Solley made three saves in the first half to keep the Yellow Jackets out of the net. 

The Golden Wolves tallied the first goal of the afternoon in the 53rd minute when Ryan Cogill avoided three Yellow Jacket defenders, drove down the end line and laid the ball off to a cutting Gabe Wunderlich who slotted the ball into the back of the net to give the Golden Wolves a 1-0 advantage.

Rochester would respond 15 minutes later when Nick Swanger found Elijose Araujo who found the back of the net to make it a tie game, 1-1 with just over 20 minutes to go. 

Rochester grabbed the lead with just five minutes left in the contest when Avi Lamba found Othman Belhseine who beat Alvernia keeper Solley to make it 2-1 Yellow Jackets. 

The Golden Wolves would attempt to find a late equalizer but could not find the back of the net as Rochester came away with the 2-1 victory. 

Solley recorded five saves in net for Alvernia. 

Wunderlich led the Golden Wolves with a goal and Cogill added an assist. Both Cogill and Wunderlich tallied two shots and Evan Case came off the bench and tallied two shots with one being on goal. 

The Golden Wolves are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Lancaster Bible College to take on the Chargers at 6:00 PM.
