Lancaster, Pa (September 6, 2023) - Alvernia University (2-1) used a pair of Justin Fetrow goals late in the second half to complete the comeback and take down Lancaster Bible College (0-2-1) 3-2, in a non-conference men's soccer matchup Wednesday night at Lancaster Bible. 

The Chargers got on the board early after Marcos Nunez found Andrew Cox who found the back of the net to give Lancaster Bible a 1-0 lead within the first five minutes of the contest. 

Lancaster Bible threatened again five minutes later when Alvernia keeper Evan Solley came out of goal to clear a pass that found the foot of Evan Nell who played it to an open goal, but Michael Pierce cleared the ball away from the incoming attacker to deny Lancaster Bible a second goal in the first ten minutes. 

The Golden Wolves found an equalizer in the 24th minute of the contest after a one on one save by Solley, Alvernia pushed the ball up the field. Eli Klinger then found Evan Bauer who shielded off two Charger defenders and passed the ball to the foot of Ryan Cogill who fired his shot past the Charger keeper to make it a 1-1 game. 

The Chargers grabbed the lead for a second time with just under ten minutes left in the half. After an Alvernia foul, Kyle Hughes stepped up to take the free kick and beat Alvernia's Solley to give Lancaster Bible a 2-1 advantage heading into the half. 

Alvernia tied the game for a second time but this time in the form of a set piece. Alvernia's Klinger whipped a ball in that found the head of Christian Topovich, he headed the ball back across goal to Justin Fetrow who directed the ball into the bottom corner to make it a 2-2 contest with under 20 minutes remaining. 

Alvernia grabbed its first lead of the night with just over five minutes to play in the second half when Gabe Wunderlich played a long through ball to Fetrow who collected it and ripped a shot past the Charger's keeper to tally his second goal of the night and make it a 3-2 ballgame. 

The Golden Wolves defense held strong in the final five minutes of the game to secure the 3-2 comeback victory. 

Solley earned the win in goal for the Golden Wolves and tallied six saves. 

The Golden Wolves were led by Fetrow with two goals, Topovich and Bauer added assists and Cogill tallied a goal as well. Connor Kraycik, Cogill and Zeke Zambrano all recorded two shots. 

Alvernia is back in action on Saturday when they host Penn State Berks in the night cap of a triple header at Alvernia's Turf Field.
