Reading, Pa. (Nov. 18, 2024) - Alvernia University Football sophomore Zach Ayers and Field Hockey senior Lexi Boettcher were named Alvernia Athletes of the Week for their performances during the week of November 11 - November 17, 2024. This week's Alvernia Athletes of the Week are presented by Visions Federal Credit Union.

Zach Ayers caught the game-winning touchdown pass in overtime to lead Alvernia to a 34-31 win over Misericordia in the season-finale on Saturday. Ayers caught the 13 yard pass from JJ Gonzalez to secure the walk off victory. Ayers also caught a 27-yard touchdown reception from Gonzalez in the second quarter to give Alvernia a 14-6 lead. Ayers finished the afternoon with three receptions. He also was crucial to field position for Alvernia in the win, with five kick returns for 159 yards. He averaged over 31 yards a return. 

Lexi Boettcher finished off her outstanding career in shutout fashion with a seven save performance over Husson to help Alvernia secure the 2024 ECAC title. Boettcher recorded four first half saves to keep the Eagles off the board going into the second half. Boettcher then made three saves in the fourth quarter to stop a late Husson push and help Alvernia secure its first ECAC title since 2017.

Both Football and Field Hockey's 2024 seasons came to a close over the weekend.
