Alvernia Falls to Stevenson, 3-0

Aston, Pa (November 9, 2024) - Alvernia University (1-2, 0-1) dropped its MAC Conference opener to Stevenson University (3-0, 1-0) 3-0, in a men's ice hockey matchup Saturday night at Aston Ice Works. 

The Mustangs netted goals in all three periods en route to the 3-0 victory over the Golden Wolves. 

How it Happened
  • The Mustangs grabbed the lead just over two minutes into the first period when Aiden Lindley found the back of the net thanks to an assist from Gage Parillo to make it 1-0 Stevenson. 
  • The Golden Wolves fired four shots at the Stevenson net in the third period with three going on target but Stevenson's Ford DeLoss saved all three as the Mustangs took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. 
  • The Mustangs doubled their lead in the 14th minute of the second period after Lindley added an assist to Connor MacDonell who found the back of the net to make it 2-0 Mustangs. 
  • Alvernia tallied six shots in the final six minutes of the period but still struggled to find the back of the net as Stevenson took a two goal lead into the final intermission. 
  • Stevenson added one final insurance goal in the final four minutes of the third period after Parillo found the back of the net to secure the 3-0 victory for the Mustangs.

  • Tonight's game between the Golden Wolves and the Mustangs was played at Aston Ice Works due to rink conditions at Stevenson's home rink causing the game from Friday night's game to be postponed.
