How it Happened
- Game one proved to be a pitching duel between Maggie Loomis and Rutgers-Camden's Sammie Friel.Â
- Alvernia threatened with runners on second and third in the top of the first, but Friel got the Raptors out of the inning. Loomis did not allow a hit in the home half of the first as the game moved into the second at 0-0.
- Jaclyn Barbera led off the top of the second with a single to right field. After back-to-back strikeouts for Alvernia, Payton Splain joined Barbera on base via a walk. Alexia Fitzgerald then drove both Barbera and Splain home with a hard double to right center to give Alvernia the 2-0 lead.
- Alvernia had a few opportunities to tack onto its lead, but a 2-0 advantage would be enough for the Golden Wolves. Loomis scattered just two hits across the complete game and did not allow a walk as Alvernia came away with the 2-0 win in game one.
