Felix Takes Second at NCAA DIII Indoor Track and Field National Championship

Virginia Beach, Virginia (March 9, 2024) - Alvernia University Women's Track and Field senior Shinelle Felix had another historic performance on Saturday, taking second in the triple jump at the NCAA Division III Indoor National Track and Field Championship on Saturday at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.

Felix earned her third All-American honor of her career with the second place finish, and she once again became the highest finisher at an NCAA Track and Field Championship in program history after she topped her own third place finish from last year's outdoor championship.

After fouling her first attempt, Felix hit a 12.41 mark in the second jump of her preliminary flight. That mark pushed her up to second place overall and secured a spot in the finals.

Felix sat 0.32 meters back of top-seeded Victoria Kadiri of Johns Hopkins heading into the finals after Kadiri jumped a 12.73m on her third attempt of the prelims. However, none of the nine finalists could better their prelim spot as all prelim rankings held through the finals. Felix's 12.41m held for a second place finish, as did Kadiri's 12.73m for a first place finish.

Felix's 12.41m mark was also .01 meters better than her 12.40m jump at the outdoor championship last year.

After a few weeks off, Felix will now turn her attention to the outdoor season.
