How it Happened
  • The Mustangs took a 1-0 on a squeeze play in the bottom of the first and rode that 1-0 lead through the first four innings. Jason Kelly allowed just three hits by the Mustangs through that stretch until Alvernia's offense was able to get him the lead.
  • The Golden Wolves evened the game at 1-1 in the top of the fifth on a bases loaded sacrifice fly from Mike Ramundo to score Logan Nelson. Kelly then grabbed the lead for himself on an RBI single on the next at-bat to drive in Logan Jones.
  • Alvernia's 2-1 lead didn't last long as the Mustangs tied it at 2-2 in their half of the fifth on an RBI fielder's choice.
  • The game remained tied at 2-2 as it progressed into the seventh inning, which is the final inning of game one of doubleheaders. Alvernia had the bases loaded with no outs following an Evan Thomas walk, Ramundo double, and an intentional walk to Kelly. Stevenson struck out Matt Edwards for the first out of the inning, but then the Mustangs allowed the go-ahead run to score as Timmy Hitchcock was walked with the bases loaded to give Alvernia the 3-2 lead. Alvernia then added two insurance runs as Bobby Hansen doubled down the left field line to score Ramundo and Kelly and give Alvernia the 5-2 lead.
  • Brad Coley took the mound for Matt Mays to close things out. The Mustangs threatened with a runner on third with two outs, but Alvernia's defense retired the final batter on a groundout to second as the Golden Wolves came away with the 5-2 win in game one.

How it Happened:
  • Stevenson again struck first in game two. The Mustangs had a runner on third with one out who was able to score on a wild pitch to give Stevenson the 1-0 lead.
  • The Golden Wolves evened the game at 1-1 in the top of the second. The Mustangs walked three batters to have the bases loaded with two outs. They then walked Luke Jones to drive in a run and make it a 1-1 game. The Mustangs made a change on the mound and got out of the inning on a groundout to second.
  • Alvernia broke the tie in the top of the third with Ramundo hitting a solo homer to the left gap to give Alvernia the 2-1 lead.
  • The Golden Wolves tacked on another run in the top of the third with Garrett Hunter driving in Hitchcock, who led off the inning with a triple to left center. But, Alvernia gave the run back in Stevenson's half of the third on an outfield single to make it a 3-2 game.
  • A Matt Edwards sacrifice fly to score Ramundo gave Alvernia back the two-run lead, 4-2, in the top of the fifth.
  • The Golden Wolves then broke the game open with a six-run top of the sixth. An RBI single by Jacob Chapman scored Evan Thomas and a ground-rule double from Edwards drove in Ramundo to make it a 6-2 game. Houghton then hit a three-run homer to left field to give Alvernia the 9-2 lead. Hunter kept it rolling with an RBI double to score Hitchcock to cap off the inning and make it a 10-2 game.
  • Stevenson got two back on unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth, but Alvernia unleashed its offense in the seventh with an 18-run inning off of 11 hits. Chapman scored on a wild pitch to get things started, Houghton and Hitchcock hit back-to-back RBI singles to make it a 14-4 game, and Houghton then scored on a wild pitch. Scott Anderson then drove in a run on an RBI single, and then Noah Waldron hit a 3-run homer to make it a 19-4 game. Ryan Byard then tripled to center to score two runs before scoring himself on an error on the same play to make it a 22-4 game. Alvernia kept rolling, and, later in the inning, Ryan Kopf doubled to score two more runs for the 24-4 lead. Cameron Abele and Byard then capped off the inning with back-to-back two-run doubles for the 28-4 lead. The inning lasted 56 minutes.
  • Alvernia gave one run back in the bottom of the seventh, but the doubleheader run-rule was in full effect as Alvernia came away with the 28-5 win.
  • Nick Ferraioli picked up the win on the mound in five and two thirds innings of work.
Of Note
  • Ramundo hit for the cycle with a single, double, triple, and home run in game two. He is the first player since Reid Martin on April 19, 2010 to hit for the cycle. Martin did so in an 18-2 nine-inning game against PSU Berks.
  • Alvernia's 28 runs was its most in a game since scoring 30 against Rivier in 2017.
  • Alvernia has won its last 11 conference games, and has run-ruled three opponents. The Golden Wolves have also won 12 of its last 13 games.
