Reading, Pa (April 16, 2024) - Alvernia University (18-11) put up 22 total runs in two games to sweep Immaculata University (10-16) in a non-conference softball doubleheader Tuesday afternoon in Angelica Park.
The Golden Wolves took game one 12-1 after scoring five runs in the first and third innings and then grabbed game two, 10-1 after scoring four runs in both the second and fourth innings to secure the sweep.

How it Happened
- Alvernia jumped ahead early in game one and put up five runs in the home half of the first inning. Taylor McClain started things off with a two RBI double to left and then Emily Sano followed McClain up with a single down the right field line that scored McClain to make it 3-0. Jaclyn Barbera then beat out an infield single to score Sano and Payton Splain singled down the third base line to make it a 5-0 ballgame.
- The Golden Wolves kept it going in the second when Payton LaScala ripped a double down the left field line to score two runs and extend the lead to 7-0.
- A bases-loaded walk by Sano forced in another run in the third to make it 8-0 and then LaScala singled through the left side and drove in Sano and Maggie Loomis to push the lead to 10-0.
- Barbera capped the five run inning off with a two RBI single up the middle to make it 12-0.
- The Mighty Macs tallied one run in the top of the fifth thanks to an RBI single through the left side but then Maggie Loomis shut the Mighty Macs down the rest of the way to secure the 12-1 game one victory after five innings.

How it Happened
- Brooke Hauck started things off in game two with a two RBI triple to dead center that drove in McClain and Loomis to give the Golden Wolves another early lead.
- The Golden Wolves then tacked on four more in the second inning to take a 6-0 lead. McClain worked a bases loaded walk that forced in a run to start things off and then Sano singled to drive two more runs in. Hauck then singled to center to plate McClain and make it a 6-0 ballgame.
- Hauck made it 8-0 in the fourth after she ripped a two RBI single up the middle to score Fitzgerald and Loomis and then LaScala poked a two RBI double over the left fielder's head to make it a double digit lead, 10-0.
- Kelsey Racine shut the Mighty Macs down in the top of the fifth to trigger the run rule and secure the sweep for the Golden Wolves with a 10-0 shutout victory in game two.
