Alvernia Falls to Juniata, 12-3

Reading, Pa (April 22, 2024) - Alvernia University (22-13) dropped a non-conference baseball matchup to Juniata (11-20) 12-3, Monday evening in Angelica Park

The Eagles held a slim, 4-2 lead after four with the Golden Wolves pulling within one in the sixth inning, 4-3 but Juniata scored two in the seventh and six in the ninth en route to the 12-3 victory.

How it Happened 
  • The Eagles jumped ahead first in the top of the second after two wild pitches allowed two runs to score and gave Juniata a 2-0 lead. 
  • Juniata tacked one more on in the second after a RBI single to left pushed a third run across the plate to make it a 3-0 ballgame. 
  • The Eagles made it 4-0 in the third thanks to an Alvernia error to push the lead to four. 
  • The Golden Wolves got two back in the bottom of the third thanks to a Juniata error that allowed two runs to score and make it a 4-2 ballgame. 
  • Alvernia pulled within one in the home half of the sixth after Mike Ramundo slapped a one out double down the right field line, Jason Kelly then singled into the left center gap to score Ramundo and make it a 4-3 game. 
  • The Eagles pushed the lead back to three in the top of the seventh after a two RBI double off the left field wall made it a 6-3 game. 
  • Juniata would then go on to tack on six insurance runs in the top half of the ninth to secure the 12-3 victory.
