St. Davids, Pa. (April 9, 2024) - Eastern University (3-5, 1-1) grabbed a narrow 5-4 win over Alvernia University (5-5, 1-1) on Tuesday evening in MAC Commonwealth men's tennis action at Eastern University. 

Alvernia led 2-1 after singles play and the match was back and forth throughout singles. It came down to #2 singles play, and Eastern was able to squeeze out a tiebreaker set win.

How it Happened

• Alvernia trailed 1-0 early with #3 doubles wrapping up first and Eastern grabbing an 8-4 win. But, Alvernia took a 2-1 lead with Lucas Berger and Jayden Lewis taking #1 doubles, 8-6, and Luke Brisbois and Thomas Figurelli taking #2 doubles, 8-4.
• #3 singles was the first to finish up, and Alvernia took a 3-1 lead on the match as Luke Brisbois won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. 
• The Golden Wolves then took the 4-1 match lead with Berger grabbing a win at #1 singles, 6-0, 6-4.
• The Eagles then tied it up at 4-4 with wins at #3, #5, and #6 singles.
• The match came down to #2 singles. Jayden Lewis dropped the first set 6-7 (5-7), but Lewis came back and took the second set, 6-3. #2 singles then came down to a third set, and Eastern was able to edge out a 6-4 win to secure #2 singles and the match, 5-4.
