Myrtle Beach, SC (May 24, 2024) - Alvernia University Women's Track and Field senior Shinelle Felix competed in the long jump on Thursday in her first of two events at the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. 

Felix was seeded 19th coming into the championship, but jumped up seven spots to take 12th place overall with a jump of 5.62m. It was her second best mark of the season, with her 5.74m NCAA qualifying mark coming as her only better jump this year. Her 12th place finish also earned her second team All-American honors.

Felix started her competition off with a jump of 5.24m. She then hit 5.62m on her second attempt. Felix did not improve on her third attempt, jumping 5.57m. Felix missed qualifying for the finals by .04 meters.

Ursinus' Rainah Dunham, the 13th seed, took first place with a mark of 5.98m.

Felix will be back in action on Saturday afternoon for the triple jump.
