Anderson Promoted to Assistant Director, Storti Joins Sports Information Team

Reading, Pa. (August 29, 2024) - Alvernia University Director of Sports Information and Operations Marisa Lombardo announced on Thursday the promotion of Nick Anderson and the hiring of Kyle Storti as part of changes to the Alvernia Athletics Sports Information team.

Nick Anderson, who joined the Alvernia staff in a full-time capacity as the Athletic Communications Assistant in the summer of 2022, was promoted to Assistant Director of Sports Information and Operations. Kyle Storti joins Alvernia University as the Athletic Communications Assistant for Multimedia and Broadcasts, a newly created role in Alvernia's Athletic Department.

"Nick has an unmatched level of work-ethic and drive that has been evident since he was  student-worker with the Athletics Department during his time as an undergraduate at Alvernia," said Lombardo. "That work-ethic has only developed further in his two years as the Athletic Communications Assistant, and it was clear he was ready to expand on that role. It has been a pleasure working alongside Nick in a full-time capacity for the last two years, and I could not ask for a better colleague to work with."

"I'm extremely excited to take this next step in my professional career and take on new responsibilities to help better not only our Sports Information Department, but also Alvernia Athletics as a whole," said Anderson. "It has been an unbelievable experience working under Marisa, and with the entire Athletics team. I would like to thank them for helping me grow both professionally and personally."

Anderson began with Alvernia as an undergraduate work-study, where he was with the department for all four-years of his undergraduate career. He was hired as the Athletic Communications Assistant in July of 2022 after completing his Bachelor's from Alvernia in Sport Management. As the Assistant Director of Sports Information and Operations, Anderson will continue his work in the sports information office alongside Lombardo and Storti, and will also have an expanded role in game-day operations and work-study management.

Storti began with Alvernia earlier this month and has already been instrumental in working with Lombardo and Anderson on preseason content and special projects leading up to this weekend's first competitions of the year. In his first weeks with Alvernia, Storti handled all video content during preseason coverage, and also was behind the camera and the editor on both the Men's and Women's Soccer uniform reveals.

"I'm incredibly excited to have Kyle join our team," said Lombardo. "He has made an immediate impact with his work in the few short weeks since he joined us, and I'm excited to watch that develop and expand. Having him on our staff will be a game-changer in the content we can provide for our student-athletes and programs."

"I also would like to thank our administration for seeing the value in this role and how it can positively impact and enhance our student-athlete experience as the world of collegiate athletic communications is ever-evolving," added Lombardo. "I also would like to thank our former graduate assistant, Logan McGinley M'24, for the work he did the last three years that helped build the framework of this position."

Storti is a 2024 graduate of LaSalle University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in computer science with a minor in communication and media skills. While at La Salle, he handled social media for the Division I Men's Soccer program and also worked with La Salle TV. Storti also produced a short film and did freelance work for additional La Salle athletic programs.

"Kyle showed an unmatched level of enthusiasm and passion during the interview process, which made an immediate impression on both Nick and I. That enthusiasm is also reflected in the early work he has already done with Alvernia," said Lombardo. "His passion and eagerness, work with La Salle,  and his familiarity with the world of collegiate athletics made him a great fit for this role."

"I could not be more excited to join the Sports Information team at Alvernia," said Storti. "Getting to be part of a well-established collegiate sports program is a big enough honor as is, but when that program is filled with hard-working and personable staff, it makes me that much more eager to reciprocate that effort and care into my own work. I look forward to getting to know the athletes and staff as the seasons come and go and cannot wait to continue to build on what we did during preseason."

The 2024-25 Alvernia Athletic season officially begins tomorrow, Friday, August 30th, as cross country, women's volleyball, and men's soccer get their respective seasons underway. The remainder of the fall teams will join them later this weekend and into next week as Football begins its season on September 6th.
