Arcadia Downs Alvernia, 2-0

Colmar, Pa (January 17, 2024) - Arcadia University (7-5-2, 5-2-2) netted two goals in the first period en route to a 2-0 victory over Alvernia University (7-8-0, 5-6-0) Friday night in MAC men's ice hockey action at Arcadia. 

The Knights recorded both of their goals within five minutes in the first period en route to the two goal victory. The Golden Wolves fired 25 shots on goal to Arcadia's 15 in the final two periods of the contest but were unable to find the back of the net. 

How it Happened 
  • The Golden Wolves recorded seven shots in the first ten minutes of the game but only put two on the Arcadia net. 
  • The Knights opened the scoring with just over nine minutes to go in the first period after Drew Iannucci and Brendan Dicker assisted Michael Hertzberg to make it 1-0 Arcadia. 
  • Arcadia doubled its lead just over five minutes later when Connor Dennis connected with Donnie Feldman to give the Knights a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission. 
  • Alvernia recorded 24 shots at the Arcadia net with ten shots going on goal but Arcadia's Ryan Burgess saved all ten to preserve the two goal lead as the Golden Wolves and the Knights headed to the room for the final intermission. 
  • The Golden Wolves controlled the offensive side of things in the third period as well, outshooting the Knights 28-9 overall and 15-7 on goal but Alvernia continued to struggle to find the back of the net as Arcadia secured the 2-0 victory. 

Inside the Box Score
  • Matthew Davies recorded a team high ten shots and recorded four shots on goal and added a block. Edvin Robertsson followed Davies with nine shots and also had four on goal and a block. 
  • Matthew Imbriano recorded a team high 11 faceoff wins and also put three shots on goal. 
  • Owen Noll recorded a block and four shots, all of which went on net. 
  • Jacob Stern recorded 27 saves in net for Alvernia.

  • The Golden Wolves are back in action tomorrow when they travel back to Arcadia for game two of the MAC series at 7:00 PM.
