Golden Wolves Wrap Up Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic

Waynesboro, Pa. (Oct. 12, 2025) - Alvernia Men's Golf wrapped up its showing at the Gettysburg College Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic on Sunday at Waynesboro Country Club. 

Alvernia finished 15th overall in the field of 18 teams. The Golden Wolves shot a 318 on day two, improving on their day one score by two strokes and finishing the event with a two-day total of 638. Alvernia had a trio of players shoot an 81 on day two to contribute to Alvernia's second day score of 318.

McDaniel College took team honors with a two-day total of 582 to finish 6-over on the weekend. Gettysburg's Nick Conti took first place at 5-under with a two-day total of 139.

Shawn Williams led Alvernia with a 75 on day two and took 15th place overall in the field of 95 athletes with a two-day total of 147. 

Williams started his day with a bogey on the par five first hole and moved to 3-over on the day with a double bogey on the fifth. He got a stroke back with a birdie on the ninth to make the turn at 2-over. After a bogey on the 10th, Williams again moved back to 2-over with a birdie on the 12th. He played the remainder of his day at 1-over to finish 3-over overall with a round of 75. 

Chase Smith took 55th overall with a two-day total of 158. Smith shot an 81 on day two. Smith finished his day with 11 pars. He posted five pars on the front nine and added six more on the back nine. 

Matthew Gagliardi finished in 85th overall with a two-day total of 166. Gagliardi improved by four strokes on day two with a round of 81 on Sunday. Gagliardi was 2-over on the front nine with five pars and a birdie on the par three 3rd hole. He then added four more pars on the back nine for the round of 81.

Matthew Overholt had a six stroke improvement from day one, firing an 81 on day two. Overholt played the front nine at 1-over with three birdies across the opening nine hole stretch. Overholt had his fourth birdie of the day on the 12th, but played the back nine at 8-over for his round of 81. He finished with a two-day total of 168 to take 90th overall. 

Matt Davies rounded things out for Alvernia with a two-day total of 170 for a 93rd place finish. Davies shot an 84 on day two. He started his round with back-to-back birdies and remained at 1-under through six before finding trouble and the closing holes of the front nine. He added two pars on the back nine for his round of 84.

Alvernia is back on Tuesday for day one of the Battle at Bulle Rock.
