Big First Half Powers Monarchs Past Golden Wolves

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. (Oct. 18, 2025) - King's College (3-3, 3-2) used a 42-point first half to down Alvernia University (0-6, 0-5) 52-0 on Saturday afternoon in MAC Football action at King's. 

The Monarchs scored on their first touch of the game and never looked back. The Monarchs utilized big plays throughout the game and had three of their touchdowns come on plays of 45 or more yards. King's finished the afternoon averaging 7.6 yards per play.

How it Happened
  • The Monarchs jumped out to a 7-0 lead on the first play of their first drive as Brennan Robinson broke through the line for a 72 yard touchdown run.
  • King's then made it a 14-0 game on a 46-yard completion from Jaelin Mims to Jayon Hailey with just under 10 minutes remaining in the first quarter.
  • After Alvernia punted it for the third time to close out the first quarter, the Monarchs made it a 21-0 game on an 11-yard rush by Hailey. Later in the second quarter, the Monarchs made it a 28-0 game on an 18-yard rush by Robinson to convert a 4th and 1 and find the end zone with 9:25 remaining in the opening half.
  • The Golden Wolves went to punt on the ensuing drive, but the punt was fumbled and the Monarchs recovered at the Alvernia 23-yard line. King's then found the end zone on the second play of the drive as Robinson rushed for 23 yards to make it a 35-0 game with eight minutes to play in the half.
  • The Monarchs kept it rolling and made it a 42-0 game as Mims found Nick Hoffman on a 52-yard connection with 4:32 remaining in the half.
  • Alvernia punted away its next possession and King's ran out the clock as it took a 42-0 lead into the break. The Monarchs put up 353 first half yards, including 218 yards on the ground.
  • Both teams went scoreless in the third quarter, but the Monarch's tacked onto their lead in the final frame. King's opened the fourth quarter with a 30-yard field goal to take a 45-0 lead. The Monarchs closed out the scoring with seven minutes to play on a 13-yard rush by Joey Rehberg to take a 52-0 lead. That score held for the remainder of the game.

  • King's finished with 508 yards and held Alvernia to 64 total yards. King's finished the day with 338 rushing yards and held the ball for over 38 minutes. 
  • Christian Medina led Alvernia with nine tackles.
