Smith Leads Golden Wolves at York’s Fall Invitational

York, Pa. (October 20, 2025) - Chase Smith led Alvernia University with a tenth place finish at York College's Fall Invitational at Royal Manchester Golf Links Monday.

Smith recorded a day two score of 77 to secure a top ten finish and Shawn Williams followed Smith with a T13 finish.

The Golden Wolves finished in a tie for fifth place as a team with a two day team score of 652 (332/320).

Chase Smith started his day on the 16th hole and carded two pars in his first three holes as he headed to the front nine. Smith then posted five pars and a birdie on the eighth hole saw Smith post a 38 on the front nine. Smith then birdied the tenth before carded two more pars in his next five holes to post a 39 on the back nine and a 77 on the round. Smith carded a two day total of 158 and finished in solo tenth place.

Shawn Williams recorded a day two score of 82 and finished in a tie for 13th place. Williams started his round on the 17th hole and tallied back to back pars on 17 and 18 but then ran into a string of birdies on the first three holes on the front nine. Williams bounced back with a birdie at the fourth and three more pars in his next four holes to post a 40 on the front nine. Williams then saw bogeys and a big number hamper his round on the back nine and carded a 42 on the back for an 82 on the day. Williams finished with a two day total of 160.

Jacob DeWitt recorded a round two score of 78 and finished in a tie for 26th place. DeWitt opened things up on the 15th hole and carded a bogey and a double bogey in his first four holes but added two pars in there as he headed to the front nine. DeWitt then rattled off eight pars on the front nine and carded just one bogey as he posted a 37 on the front nine. DeWitt carded back to back bogeys on ten and 11 but then carded three straight pars to end his round and tallied a 41 on the back nine and a 78 on the day. DeWitt finished with a two day total of 164.

Zachary Neuin recorded a day two score of 83 and finished in a tie for 35th place. Neuin started his day on the 14th hole and two pars in his first five holes as he headed to the front nine. Neuin tallied five pars on the front nine but a few bogeys and a double saw him card a 41 on the front nine. Neuin tallied a few more bogeys on the back nine to post a 42 on the back and a 83 on the day. Neuin finished with a two day total of 170.

Matthew Overholt rounded out the scores for the Golden Wolves with a day two score of 87 and he finished in 42nd place. Overholt started on the 14th hole and carded three pars in his first five holes before making the turn to the front nine. Overholt then carded five pars on the front nine but big numbers plagued his front nine as he carded a 41. Overholt then carded more bogeys in his final four holes as he tallied a 46 on the back nine and an 87 on the day. Overholt finished with a two day total of 174.

Alvernia is back in action next Monday for day one of the annual Yocum Cup between Albright and Alvernia. Day one will be fourball matches played at the Berkshire Country Club on Monday and day two will be singles matches played at LedgeRock Golf Club.
