Williams, Alvernia in Third Through Day One at Golden Oaks

Fleetwood, Pa. (Oct. 5, 2025) - Alvernia senior Shawn Williams fired a 1-under 71 to lead the Golden Wolves on day one of the Arcadia University Golden Oaks Shootout at Golden Oaks Golf Club on Sunday.

Williams' round of 71 has him in a tie for third place through day one and led Alvernia to a team score of 303. The Golden Wolves are in third place through the first 18 in the field of nine teams. Alvernia is eight strokes back of Johnson and Wales (Charlotte), who fired a 295 on day one. The Golden Wolves are five strokes back of Albright, who finished with a 298 on Sunday.

After a 3-over 39 on the front nine that saw a birdie on the par four 7th hole, Williams posted an impressive 4-under 32 on the back nine. He started the back nine with a birdie on the par four 9th hole before posting an eagle on the par five 11th. The eagle marked the first of his senior season. Williams followed the eagle with a birdie on the par four 12th hole. He then had a clean card the rest of the way with six straight pars for his round of 1-under 71. He is tied with JWU's Johnathan Lee at 1-under, and the duo are one stroke back of both Albright's Federico Cobos Kallmann and Swarthmore Phelps Wang at 2-under.

In second for Alvernia and in a tie for tenth overall is Matthew Overholt with a round of 3-over 75. Overholt finished his day with 12 pars, including seven on the back nine, and a birdie on the par five 5th hole. He posted a 1-over 37 on the front nine, and a 2-over 38 on the back. His round of 75 is the lowest of his early collegiate career.

In third for Alvernia and in a tie for 16th overall is Jacob DeWitt with a round of 6-over 78. After some trouble on the front nine, DeWitt turned it around on the back nine with a 1-over37. He posted three birdies on the back, including a birdie on the par five 18th to close out his round. Like Overholt, DeWitt's round of 78 is also a career low for the first year and his collegiate round in the 70s.

Rounding out Alvernia's counting scores on day one was Zachary Neuin with a round of 7-over 79. Neuin fired a 2-over 38 on the front nine with seven pars. He followed that with a 5-over 41 on the back stretch, but he recorded birdies on the 11th and 16th holes. Neuin's round of 79 has him in seven way tie for 20th place

Chase Smith finished as Alvernia's fifth on Sunday with a round 12-over 84. Smith posted 42s on both the front and back nine.

The Golden Wolves are back in action tomorrow for the second and final day of the Golden Oaks Shootout.
